Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Dear Valued Customer,

As we deal with the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, UniFirst remains open for business and committed to helping you with your operations.

While UniFirst provides many business solutions to our customers, at our core, we are a commercial laundry and business services company that provides hygienically clean protective garments, facility service products, first aid and safety supplies, and other items to help ensure the safety of workers and the general public.

It is crucial that UniFirst remains open for business in support of our customers and the communities in which we serve. During this time, we are servicing many industries designated as "essential," including healthcare operations, infrastructure maintenance and repair, grocery stores, food processing, manufacturing, water and energy facilities, first-responders, laboratories, pharmaceutical manufacturers, other fundamental supply chain businesses and government agencies.

People depend on UniFirst, as well as all our customers that are staying open, to meet their basic needs (now more than ever). We must all do our part in helping us to continue effectively providing our valued products and services to the business community-at-large.

The Safety of our Customers and Team Partners

The safety our customers, employee Team Partners, and our communities will always be our number one priority. We have therefore strengthened our standard operating procedures (SOPs) and are following strict guidelines to ensure our locations remain open and functional while taking significant measures to keep everyone safe.

We continue to operate in accordance with guidance from local health officials and government leaders as they work to contain the virus. We have increased cleaning and sanitizing processes throughout our facilities, restricted on-site visitors, limited in-person meetings and travel – as overall safety remains our priority. UniFirst Team Partners continue to be provided communications to help them maintain CDC healthy habits and guidance if they have any signs of illness. We are also taking necessary precautions while making essential deliveries to customer facilities. In this regard, all Team Partners who have direct contact with soiled laundry, including our customer delivery staff, are wearing protective gloves and any other Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) that applies.

Customer Wash Processes

Our industrial laundry operations follow documented laundering techniques to help ensure that all garments and textiles are hygienically clean after they have undergone the UniFirst cleaning process. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the CDC rank microorganisms with respect to their tolerance to chemical disinfectants. Of the various types of viruses, enveloped viruses (such as COVID-19) have historically been proven to be the most easily neutralized with many standard cleaning techniques – techniques such as proper hand hygiene, hard surface disinfecting, and laundry practices (including high temperature and/or proper chemicals). We are confident that our SOPs for the processing of our garments and other products, as well as the extra precautions being taken by our employee Team Partners, are effective in minimizing the potential risks of spreading the coronavirus.

Supply Chain and Product Availability

We continue to work with our suppliers to ensure we are alerted in advance of any potential current or future supply-based risks. Given the breadth of our products and services, we remain in close communication with our suppliers, including those that provide raw materials, to maintain our ongoing risk assessments.

UniFirst will continue to monitor the situation and actively explore all options to help mitigate any longer-term risks that may arise.
