Unifirst Wins 2020 Apex Award Of Publication Excellence For New Collection Of Industry-specific Mini Catalogs

WILMINGTON, Mass. (August 2020) – UniFirst Corporation (NYSE: UNF), a North American leader in providing customized work uniform programs, corporate attire, and facility service products, has earned the 2020 APEX Award of Publication Excellence for the development and design of the company’s new series of industry-specific mini product sales catalogs.

This is the third consecutive year that UniFirst has taken home an APEX award for marketing communications programs. In 2019, the company was recognized for the design and implementation of the UniFirst President’s Club promotional mail campaign, and in 2018 for the cover design of the company’s flagship Uniform Rental Catalog®.

Now in its 32nd year, the APEX Annual Awards of Publication Excellence recognize extraordinary work by professional communicators, based on excellence in content, design, and overall communications. The annual program attracts entries from hundreds of businesses throughout the United States.

This year’s winning entry was focused on UniFirst’s vertical market mini-catalog series designed to help UniFirst’s award-winning sales department attract new customers in target industries. The catalog series is intended to support the team by highlighting over a dozen of the most popular industries that utilize managed uniform programs.

“UniFirst is honored to earn an APEX award once again,” said David Katz, UniFirst Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “This award represents the culmination of hard work and collaboration by our talented sales and marketing teams. These catalogs are world class and a critical component to assisting our sales team in their efforts to meet the specific needs of our business customers—who are the focus of everything we do.”

UniFirst’s winning entry in the “Print Media – Catalogs, Directories & Guides” category featured unique covers that feature each targeted industry, as well as a curated introduction and easily-identifiable icons. The Table of Contents included additional copy that was presented in a problem/solution format that spoke directly to the uniform wearer, and the subsequent product offerings featured pertinent information that appealed to each respective industry. To conclude, the back cover provided additional details about UniFirst’s full breadth of uniform, workwear, facility service capabilities, and ancillary services.

“UniFirst’s mini catalogs highlighted UniFirst’s expertise in an aesthetically pleasing, easily digestible design,” says Ken Turturo, executive editor of Communications Concepts, Inc., sponsor of the APEX awards. “From the front cover to the back, these industry-specific catalogs provide essential information that will help boost UniFirst’s sales efforts. Kudos to the entire team.”
