Former UniFirst President and CEO, Ron Croatti, was featured on the hit CBS-TV reality series “Undercover Boss.” During the UniFirst episode, Mr. Croatti donned a long-haired “hippie” disguise to work incognito alongside a number of his employee Team Partners around the U.S. to better understand their jobs and to identify any UniFirst operational areas where improvements might be warranted.
“Despite the fact I had some difficulties performing many of the various tasks, I was pleased to see the systems and procedures we have in place to ensure quality and customer satisfaction are working nicely in the field,” Croatti said. “The Team Partners who ‘trained' me were all exemplary workers who treated me and other co-workers with dignity and respect. And that's extremely important to me because it means our founding family values and family culture are also well entrenched throughout our company.”
For its time slot, the UniFirst episode was the #2 most watched TV show in the U.S. and #1 in Canada. Over 14 million viewers watched the original broadcast, and millions more viewed subsequent reruns worldwide. There were also more than 1000 print and electronic media outlets that reported on Mr. Croatti's primetime television debut.
A short time after the show was recorded, Mr. Croatti implemented several changes based on the lessons he learned while undercover. Read more in the UniFirst press release, UniFirst CEO Puts “Undercover Boss” Lessons into Practice.
